Being Yourself, Safely:
A Self-Care Workshop for Highly Sensitive Persons

Do you sometimes feel that a noisy environment, intense emotions, or others' reactions put your body into an alert state?

Dr. Stephen Porges’ concept of Neuroception explains how our nervous system automatically while bypassing our am conscious mind, constantly evaluates whether we are safe or facing a potential danger. This can be even more intense for Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), as their brains process information deeply. Their "internal radar" is much more sensitive and easily triggered.

At its core, the reason HSPs struggle to unwind or show up authentically is often because their nervous system simply feels unsafe. To cope with their surroundings and avoid conflict—which their mind registers as danger—HSPs frequently over-adapt and bury they own needs. Over time, this can bring deep frustration and exhaustion.

In this workshop, we will look through the lens of nervous system care. Through shared reflections, neural exercises, and creative art-making, we will cultivate a deep sense of inner safety that empowers us to live more authentically every day.

🌟 We are thrilled to invite Khyati from Singapore to share her experiences and reflections on nurturing sensitivity, and to introduce Thinking Pairs (Cantonese translation can be offered). From her experience, Thinking Pairs are an emotionally and cognitively grounding practice in regulating our nervous system to sufficiently release feelings and unlock quality independent thinking.
